Selwo Aventura / Safari Park is an excellent day out for the whole family although it may be a little pricey (Or maybe all trips are expensive for a family)
Selwo Aventura / Safari Park is divided into three areas and it is connected by safari trucks that can transport you from one area to the other. In each area you are able to walk around, watch shows and enjoy the animals in their large enclosed habitats.
When we went to Selwo Safari Park it was for a half day, so we did not catch all the shows. We got to see the end part of a serpent show and the whole birds of prey show. We caught the safari trucks to the furthest section and walked back. Those with buggies / wheelchairs / fear of heights are unable to do this as there are suspension bridges to cross but you can see everything from the Selwo Safari truks. Section two is accessible for all, as is the aviary pass into zone one. The pass is an up-close experience with over 40 species of birds – If you can spot them! We saw quite a few as you can see on the photos below.
The guides, drivers and general staff were helpful; however we only heard them speak Spanish. As well as the entrance price and car park fee there are a variety of extra activities you can do – camel rides, archery at an extra cost. Then there is the food, drinks and ice creams. If there is someone strong in the group taking a picnic is a good idea.
On the whole we believe the Selwo Aventura / Safari Park is worth a day out. It’s not what you would expect looking in from the outside. The animals have plenty of space, very similar to their natural habitat. There are no cages and they are free to roam and mingle. One thing we cannot guarantee (but it seems highly unlikely that they wouldn’t), is the speaking English.
