The Castiglione Penthouse is a duplex apartment on the top floor of the Castiglione complex in Nueva Alcántara, the beachside area of San Pedro de Alcántara. It has a private rooftop terrace with a plunge pool and about 190m² of interior space across two levels. Sleeps up to 8 guests in four bedrooms. The beach and promenade are about 200 metres away on foot. Most guests are surprised by how close that actually is. Please note there is no elevator to access the apartment. It is about 2.5 flights of stairs.

The Rooftop Terrace
Most guests end up spending more time on the rooftop than they expect to. It has a private plunge pool (2.5 m x 5 m), a summer kitchen with BBQ, a covered dining area, lounge seating and sun loungers. The views are across the complex gardens and rooftops toward the mountains. It works well throughout the day. A few guests have used it for outdoor working during the day, others for long dinners and late evenings. The sunrises and sunsets from up there are something else.

Location — San Pedro Beach and Promenade
The apartment is in the Castiglione complex in Nueva Alcántara, the beachside neighbourhood of San Pedro de Alcántara. San Pedro beach is about 200 metres away, a short walk through the complex and across the road. The beach is wide and generally uncrowded. The sand is darker and slightly coarse, typical of this stretch of the Costa del Sol, and in some areas the shoreline can be slightly stony when entering the water, so aqua shoes can be useful. The promenade runs along the seafront for several kilometres and connects directly to Puerto Banús to the east. Many guests are surprised that you can walk all the way there along the seafront. It is lined with beach restaurants (chiringuitos), cafés, cycle lanes and playgrounds. Walking there along the promenade takes around 30–40 minutes. San Pedro itself is quieter than Puerto Banús and is a proper Spanish town with a year-round community. Local restaurants and supermarkets are within walking distance of the complex. It is a good base if you want easy access to the Costa del Sol without being in the middle of it. The area has a typical Mediterranean climate with long warm summers and mild winters. Spring and autumn are often particularly good for walking, golf and outdoor dining. Winter can bring cooler and occasionally rainy spells, which surprises some guests.

- Bedroom 4: This studio bedroom has its own entrance and is not internally connected to the main apartment. Guests need to exit the front door to reach it. It works well for adult guests who want some independence, but is not suitable for young children sleeping separately from the main group. Worth knowing before you book, and if you are not sure whether the layout suits your group, just get in touch.
The Castiglione Complex
Castiglione is one of the original beachside developments in Nueva Alcántara, well-established, well-maintained and generally quiet. The buildings are low-rise and there are no lifts. The penthouse is on the top floor and accessed by stairs. If mobility is a consideration for anyone in your group, it is something to bear in mind before booking. The complex has mature tropical gardens, a large communal swimming pool and whitewashed buildings in a traditional Andalusian style. The apartments are a mix of holiday homes and permanent residences, so it has a neighbourhood feel rather than a resort feel. From the complex it is a short walk to the beach, the promenade and the nearest restaurants and cafés.

The apartment is also popular with golf groups. Guadalmina Golf Club is about 4km away and there are several other courses within easy reach along this stretch of the Costa del Sol. The apartment has space for a group of 8 comfortably, and Thomas can help with local arrangements if needed.

It has been extremely well looked after, with high-quality furnishings and equipment. Well-stocked kitchen and having washer/dryer was ideal so that minimal washing was required when returning home. The communal pool area is excellent in addition to the rooftop plunge pool, which is also nice. The spacious apartment is well suited to large families or even multiple families as there is enough space to relax on your own or socialise in the many communal areas. Location in San Pedro is ideal.

(1) Updated contact details for electrician are required. The number provided for the electrician rang out. There was water damage to the roof terrace electrical supply after heavy storms. Unfortunately we only found this out 2 dsee more

(1) Updated contact details for electrician are required. The number provided for the electrician rang out. There was water damage to the roof terrace electrical supply after heavy storms. Unfortunately we only found this out 2 days later whilst in the middle of a BBQ. As the sun went down, we tried to put the lights on and nothing worked. The next day, we tried the electrician number to no avail and, when contacting the host's representative, the pool maintenance technician was sent but he had no competence to fix the issue. We were then told to take an extension cord to the terrace and use a lamp, which isn't suitable with young children around so unfortunately the terrace was simply not usable for the 4 dry nights we had. (2) It needs to be more explicitly advertised that the 4th bedroom is actually external to the main property (you have to exit the front door and the 4th bedroom is standalone studio with its own front door, although it is lovely) so it is only suitable for adults. We didn't used it for this reason and the kids shared a room. Not necessarily a negative, it just didn't suit us so might not suit others, whereas some may see this as a positive aspect. |

As it was the San Pedro feria most companies were working half days which is why the number rang out as no-one was in the office. However in all our pre-arrival information and on arrival we do specify that any issues with the property you contact us direct. Most of our clients have 2 mobile numbers plus our email to get in touch. We did send a handyman over within 24 hours of you contacting us with instructions from a qualified electrician on how to solve the most likely issues. The issue has been resolved now. We have modified the description so it is clearer that the studio apartment is not connected internally to the main apartment. We are glad that you did enjoy your stay and we look forward to hearing from you again soon.

We were a party of 6 of varying ages. What a wonderful penthouse. It really offers a social holiday. We spent most of the time at the roof terrace, it is literally that good.
We will be back and the hosts are just a delight to deal with.

Lots of space! I really enjoyed the outdoor areas, the balcony outside the bedroom after a run in the morning, the balcony on the main floor had sun in the afternoon, and the roof terrace was amazing for working outside during the day. I did quite a see more

I did quite a bit of cooking both in the kitchen and on the roof. The location is great, quiet and still nearby supermarkets, Puerto Bañus and the fitness center The I/O.

Colleen at take a break rentals was so helpful from the initial booking, and on arrival, Vilma was so helpful, showing us around the apartment and giving us all the information we would need. We cant wait to book our next stay!

We had an absolutely fabulous holiday in the four bedroom apartment in Castiglione. Excellent location right beside the beach with lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The apartment itself had plenty of space for 8 adults but the outsee more
We had an absolutely fabulous holiday in the four bedroom apartment in Castiglione. Excellent location right beside the beach with lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The apartment itself had plenty of space for 8 adults but the outside areas were where we spent most of our time. The roof terrace has a comfy lounge area, gorgeous dining table, sun loungers and small swimming pool which was ideal for cooling off on the hot days. This was where we would watch spectacular sunrises and sunsets and were even lucky enough to see several shooting stars one night. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and although we experienced a couple of minor plumbing issues, they were very quickly dealt with by Colleen and Thomas and their professional team. San Pedro itself is a fantastic town and a great base if you want to see a bit more of the Costa del Sol. I would highly recommend booking through Take a Break Rentals. A fantastic holiday - thank you!

You we had a very nice stay! This penthouse is practical and had everything we needed. Small private pool was a nice extra. Location is great, beach and promenade only 5min on foot.
