Located on the hill side of the Puerto Banus Marina, Nueva Andalucia is one of the most sought after residential neighbourhoods on the Costa del Sol. It is a very pretty and leafy suburb, characterized by a mixture of elegant villas and exclusive apartment complexes set in lush vegetation. Nicknamed the Golf Valley, Nueva Andalucia is fringed by four championship golf courses: Aloha, Las Brisas, Los Naranjos and La Quinta as well as the smaller floodlit la Dama de Noche course. The serene, country like setting is the perfect foil for the vibrant party atmosphere of Puerto Banus. That does not mean that it lacks amenities and misses out on the fun. Residents of Nueva Andalucia enjoy the best of both worlds; they can choose to go out in the “Port”, Marbella, or San Pedro or stay local.
Shopping: There is a plentiful supply of shops, boutiques and supermarkets, including the popular Mercadona. In the Centro Plaza mall there is a hairdressing salon as well as a gym. Each Saturday bargain hunters, holidaymakers and shopaholics all make their way to the large open-air Market. The Saturday market is held from 9:00 am-2:00 pm in the street, starting from the bullring and sprawling down to Puerto Banus.
Eating & Entertainment: There is no shortage of varied dining opportunities. Nueva Andalucia is renowned for its profusion of top quality bars and restaurants. Every palate and budget is catered for, from quick eats to sophisticated candlelit dining. Although there are no nightclubs in Nueva Andalucia, there are a couple of popular late night places, most notably La Sala Banus, located on the roundabout below the Nueva Andalucia bullring. Open 7 days a week, it has live music throughout the week and is the place to “see and be seen”. Güey Restaurant, Garden Terrace & Sky Lounge offers international cuisine together with live music. Red Cloud, restaurant and sports bar caters to the whole family and has a good selection of fresh food. The Taj Mahal Indian restaurant is said to make a “mean curry” and is very popular among the ex-pats.
For a little after dinner gambling, the Casino Marbella, in the H10 Andalucia Plaza Hotel, is a fun place with slot machines, roulette, blackjack and other games.
Beaches:Nueva Andalucia is quite spread out so depending where you are you can either walk into Puerto Banus or you can hop on a bus or drive to the nearest beach. If you are staying on a golf development in Nueva Andalucia a car is highly recommended.
Accommodation: Most of the hotels are centred around Puerto Banus, leaving Nueva Andalucia free from the tourist crowds and noise. For self catering holiday accommodation there are several options: from affordable and central apartments like La Maestranza or Andalucia Garden Club to luxurious villas around the Las Brisas y los Naranjos golf courses.
Like Marbella and San Pedro, Nueva Andalucia has easy access to the various tourist attractions such as Ronda, Mijas, Casares, Gibraltar and Morocco.
